Velenkosini Hlabisa adopts a different plan to fix ailing municipalities

Government needs to speedily implement policies that will turn the tide of municipalities that perform badly, according to political analyst, Professor John Molepo. In 2009, then Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Sicelo Shiceka, unveiled a turnaround strategy to achieve a responsive, efficient, effective and accountable structure. Now new CoGTA Minister, Velenkosini Hlabisa, has adopted a different plan, which entails a ministerial committee to deal with dysfunctional municipalities.
