Deputy Minister of Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities, Mmapaseka Letsike, says the government is working around the clock to solve the challenges that the LGBTQI+ communities face daily. Speaking on the sidelines of Soweto Pride, Letsike emphasised the importance of accepting those who have decided to come out. LGBTQI+ rights have been protected in South Africa since 1996, through Section 9 of the Constitution, which prohibits discrimination based on sex, gender, or sexual orientation.
