The Rustenburg Rapid Transport system in the North West is not yet fully operational, thirteen years after its official launch in 2011. The project has surpassed the R3 billion budget, and only certain segments have been completed. The Rustenburg Local Municipality says the project, which was an understudy of successful bus systems in Johannesburg and Cape Town, will soon be finalised.
