Energy Minister Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa says energy security remains an issue in South Africa amid high emission levels from coal-fired power stations and the impact of climate change. He delivered the keynote address at the ministerial renewable energy seminar in Midrand yesterday. The seminar comes as the country has a Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme that has seen bid windows opened for renewable energy.
