The AU will have a new leader next year. The AU commission chair Moussa Faki Mahamat will not seek re-election. The continental body has adopted a system of rotation as a process to elect the commission chair. It is now East Africa's turn, however it looks like the region will be divided as both Kenya and Djibouti are putting up the candidates. Foreign affairs minister of Djibouti says, with his 20 years of experience in the diplomatic circle he has all what it takes to lead the AU. In an exclusive interview with SABC international news editor Sophie Mokoena, Minister Mahamoud Ali Youssouf says the AU needs a person who will have the energy and the expertise to implement decisions taken by African leaders.
