Negotiations are underway for the formation of a Government of Local Unity in Nelson Mandela Bay in the Eastern Cape. Mayor Gary van Niekerk has confirmed his days are numbered as Mayor. Speculation is rife that the ANC and the DA will be leading the new grouping, with the final round of discussions set for Monday.
