Lesotho-SA | Water tunnel closes for maintenance

The Lesotho water transfer tunnel has officially been shut down for six months for planned maintenance. The tunnel corrosion protection process covers around 19 000 square metres over the 66 kilometre distance. A routine tunnel inspection is done every five years, and this major maintenance process is expected to protect this infrastructure for another 20 to 30 years.
