Lebanon | Pagers explode in attack targeting Hezbollah

A large number of wireless devices are reported to have simultaneously exploded across Lebanon in what has been described as a coordinated attack causing at least 8 deaths and injuries to close to 3 000 people, including to members of the Iran-backed Hezbollah militant group. These figures were released by the country's health ministry but casualty numbers are expected to rise. The pagers, a communication device that predates mobile phones, exploded in a massive security breach among members of the militant group which has been engaged in a cross-border warfare with Israel since the war in Gaza erupted last October.
