Employment and Labour Minister Nomakhosazana Meth has urged employers to comply with South African laws. This as the department continues to investigate employers who reportedly hire and underpay undocumented workers. Last month, raids were conducted at various restaurants, including Babel and Ocean Basket, which were found non-compliant with the National Minimum Wage Act. After four days of blitz inspections, 81 undocumented workers were arrested. Employers face fines of R2,000 per undocumented worker, and deportation procedures for the individuals have begun. Meth was addressing the media earlier. For more news, visit sabcnews.com and #SABCNews on all Social Media platforms.
