Gauteng fires leave thousands homeless

While many parts of the country are struggling with freezing temperatures, emergency services staff in Gauteng have been battling fires that saw over 2 000 people homeless after their shacks were destroyed in Pretoria at the weekend. And in Johannesburg, firefighters responded to a building on fire in Jeppestown. The building was partitioned into shacks which were destroyed by fire, resulting in 18 families displaced.
