Future of Wilgenhof men's residence

Stellenbosch University says the intended closure of the controversial Wilgenhof residence for the 2025 academic year for a revamp must be the starting point of meaningful and systemic change in the university's desire to foster an environment where all students can thrive in a community that upholds the values of inclusivity, respect and excellence and that is aligned to the university's vision 2040. The university council took the decision following an extensive process after the residence made headlines a few months when disturbing images and paraphernalia were found in locked rooms.
