Getting to the bottom of the conveyance cage tragedy on 27 November last year at Impala Platinum’s (Implats’) Rustenburg mine will be a long and winding process. Thirteen miners died after the cage hoisting them to the surface of 11 Shaft jarringly reversed course into a rapid and lethal descent.
