ompetition Commission South Africa spokesperson Siyabulela Makunga says the work of the Commission has been to ensure that there is transparency regarding margins earned by producers and the sellers of products that include sunflower oil, brown bread, canned pilchards and IQF chicken. The Commission's recent report has however found that easing cost pressures have been slow at translating into lower food prices in several essential food chains, thus having a negative impact and decreasing consumers buying power.
