Democracy 30 | Reflecting on the award-winning career of musical icon Kurt Darren

South African singer, songwriter and television presenter Kurt Darren won 9 South African Music Awards from 2007 to 2011. His debut album "For Your Precious Love" was released in 1995. His major Afrikaans hit "Meisie Meisie" was translated into German as "Hallo Susse (Hello Girl)". Twelve of his hits have been released in countries such as Germany, The Netherlands and Belgium. One of Kurt's career highlights includes being the ONLY Afrikaans-speaking artist to perform at Nelson Mandela's 90th 46664 Birthday Benefit Celebration Concert in Hyde Park, London, in 2008.
